AA HOLDINGS sustainable sewing and embroidery threads

AA HOLDINGS develops products in a targeted manner in order to make them not only more sustainable, but also more environmentally friendly through the use of selected recycling and natural materials. Cradle to Cradle Certified®, stands for a consistent, continuous recycling management, where no waste is generated, as the Cradle to Cradle Certified® products can be used either as biological nutrients in biological cycles, or they are continuously kept in technical cycles as technical nutrients. We are proud that we can already offer our customers the first Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold sewing thread from the LIFECYCLE line! Further products in the LIFECYCLE line will follow to enable our customers to have circular technical or biological material flows. Our sewing and embroidery threads from the RECYCLED line are made from 100% high-quality recycled materials and have almost the same quality features as our excellent range products, for instance in terms of breaking strength, abrasion resistance and sewability.

The finish of our sewing threads is also systematically optimised. For example, in the production of water-repellent sewing threads, we replace environmentally harmful perfluorocarbons (PFCs) with environmentally compatible alternatives. The new eco-friendly WRe finish is available for Saba WRe, Serafil WRe, and Onyx WRe. As a globally operating company, AA HOLDINGS also focuses on sustainable, fair and safe production processes worldwide. We have joined the UN Global Compact and certify our production sites according to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

AA HOLDINGS sustainable product range

Our sustainable product range consists of the RECYCLED line and the LIFECYCLE line. All products from the LIFECYCLE line are Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold and they can be completely reprocessed. The AA HOLDINGS sewing and embroidery threads from the RECYCLED line are made from 100% recycled materials.

AA HOLDINGS product line LIFECYCLE –
Cradle to Cradle Certified®️ Gold

Every year, approximately 92 million tons of textile waste are generated worldwide (source: Global Fashion Agenda & the Boston Consulting Group 2019). To counteract the global textile waste and to fulfill our responsibility towards the environment, we develop the yarns of our LIFECYCLE line based on the principle of a consistent, continuous recycling management, also known as Cradle to Cradle®. Cradle to Cradle Certified® products are awarded certification based upon their performance across five critical areas of sustainability: Material Health, Product Circularity, Clean Air & Climate Protection, Water & Soil Stewardship, and Social Fairness. Cradle to Cradle Certified® products are either returned to biological cycles as biological nutrients or continuously kept in technical cycles as technical nutrients, consequently no waste is produced! Therefore, AA HOLDINGS LIFECYCLE sewing threads can either be 100% composted or 100% reprocessed. This resource-saving process not only has a positive effect on the environment, but also on the product quality. All LIFECYCLE products are Cradle to Cradle Certified®️ Gold.

AA HOLDINGS RECYCLED product line - made from 100% recycled raw materials

The sewing and embroidery threads of our RECYCLED line are made from 100% recycled materials. The products of the RECYCLED line nearly have the same high-quality characteristics as their corresponding sister products of the AA HOLDINGS standard range. All products from our Recycled line are available as GRS certified. You will find all GRS certificates in the download center of our website

The sustainable product range of the AA HOLDINGS Group consists of the RECYCLED line and the LIFECYCLE line. All products from the LIFECYCLE line are Cradle to Cradle Certified®️ Gold and can be fully recycled. Cradle to Cradle Certified®️ stands for a consistent, continuous recycling management, in which no waste is generated, since the Cradle to Cradle® products can either be returned to biological cycles as biological nutrients or can be continuously kept in technical cycles as technical nutrients. The sustainable LIFECYCLE line currently consists of Lifecycle Polyamide, the first recycled polyamide sewing thread.

The sustainable AA HOLDINGS sewing threads and embroidery threads from the RECYCLED line are made of 100% high-quality recycled materials and have almost the same quality characteristics as the high-quality range products, e.g. in terms of breaking strength, abrasion resistance and sewability. The sustainable RECYCLED line currently consists of Saba Recycled, a polyester/polyester core spun thread made from 100% recycled PET bottles and Sabatex Recyled, a bulk yarn made from texturised polyester continuous filament, which is also made from 100% recycled PET bottles.

The finish of the AA HOLDINGS sewing threads is also systematically optimised. For example, in the production of water-repellent sewing threads, AA HOLDINGS replaces environmentally harmful perfluorocarbons (PFCs) with environmentally compatible alternatives.
